Artica Svalbard is a founding organisation of NAARCA – the Nordic Alliance of Artists’ Residencies on Climate Action – and we are pleased to announce that applications for the 2026 NAARCA residencies are now open.

In 2026, NAARCA will support two funded residency exchanges taking place between March and November. Selected artists will receive a fee, a materials and equipment allowance, and a travel stipend.

Since 2021, Artica and our NAARCA partners have been working together to develop artistic research, commissions, and projects that respond to the climate and biodiversity crises, climate justice, and the ecological, social, psychological, and cultural dimensions of sustainability.

The NAARCA residencies offer time, space, and support for artists to develop new or existing work, connect with local communities, and engage with the distinct ecological contexts of our partner institutions.

For 2026, residents will be hosted by Cove Park (Scotland), Saari Residence (Finland), and Skaftfell Arts Center (Iceland). Details of each host, including dates and facilities, can be found in the Application Guidelines.

We welcome applications from artists based in Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Scotland, or Sweden, working within visual arts, craft, or design, whose practice is connected to the climate emergency and sustainability.

Learn more about the NAARCA residency exchange programme:
