Join us for an evening walk and talk hosted by local resident Anne Lise Klungseth Sandvik and Artica resident Line Prip.
Anne Lise Klungseth Sandvik is a local Longyearbyen resident and has lived here since 1973. During that time she has witnessed many changes to the city, population, infrastructure and regulations. One of the many changes that have been introduced since her arrival is that when in Longyearbyen it is advised to stay within a designated sign-posted safety area if you do not have protection against polar bears.
Artist Line Prip is interested in invisible boundaries; between people and places, how they affect us and the contexts in which we are situated. This informal walk will take place within the polar bear safety zone and will offer a chance to learn about how the settlement has changed from the perspective of a long time local resident, whilst also exploring the theme of borders and boundaries.
The walk will be followed by an opportunity to discuss these topics further over hot drinks at Artica’s workshop.

The walk will last 30 minutes, starting at the Miner’s statue outside Lompensenteret, ending at Artica’s workshop. We have space for 10 people, if you would like to attend, please book via: info@articasvalbard.no
